4. Linens and Lavender
   

   On the Magalies Meander around the town of Magaliesberg, look out for good linens, textiles – like the ethnic Monkey Puzzle Prints – and lavender products created locally

   With its abundance of aloes and wild flowers the Province yields some fantastic honeys, james and preserves sold in delis, supermarkets and local gift shops

   With its many dams, rivers and creeks the area is renowned for its bird-watching opportunities – a good bird book is essential on birding getaways in the North West.

   
7. Recycled Glass Items & Wire Art
   

   Unique, handcrafted glassware like wine glasses and beer mugs are made from recycled glass by trained local crafters. Fantastic wire art is also sold at the side of the road.

   
8. Leopard jewellery
   

   This is leopard country par excellence and local jewellers – particularly at Sun City and the City of the Lost Palace – sell some really beautiful gold and silver pieces inspired by this graceful animal

   
9. Sun City/Lost Palace Memorabilia
   

   This casino resort has novelty and specialty shops that sell anything from animal-print T-shirts to key rings, caps and mugs. Got to have at least one ‘My Dad went to Sun City and all he got me was this lousy T-shirt’ T-shirt

   
10. Veldskoene
    

    Literally translated these are ‘bush shoes’. Originally only made in natural leather colours, these have now gone funky and are available in reds and even pink. A must for your trip to Groot Marico
