VViagem Cultural, roughly translated, means culture of travel or cultural travel and is a popular travel and lifestyle programme on Brazilian TV. Entertainment, food, art, music and literature as well as functional travel tips are all focused on by the programme’s charismatic host and creator of the show, Rodrigo Ruas. The winners are decided upon by Rodrigo himself, who travels all over the world to produce the travel pieces for his TV programme. The winners are based upon a personal decision by the well-travelled creator and presenter of this show.
In 2015, an itinerary was organised by Rodrigo and his crew to produce shows about South Africa. Rodrigo fell in love with the country and that´s why South Africa has been awarded in the category, “Best Tourism Destination”. The award recognises South African Tourism Brazil, for the work done in promoting the destination in Brazil and giving to the show the necessary communications and PR support to produce amazing pieces.
The show celebrated its 10 year anniversary in Sao Paulo and in conjunction with these celebrations, they announced the award winners at an event that took place on the 1st of November. The entire event and all the interviews with winners will be turned into a TV show for Viagem Cultural.
This is considered an honour for South Africa Tourism as it highlights what makes South Africa an amazing travel destination to a large audience through a trustworthy and dependable source.
