YYet another successful Speed Marketing workshop took place, this time hosted by the majestic province of the Eastern Cape. Southern Africa Tourism Services Association (SATSA) accredited tour operators from around the country descended on the province to learn more about this part of South Africa. They also discovered what tourist products are on offer, and what makes this land that’s full of vibrant culture so unique.

Consider the 2018 Speed Marketing sessions as an incredible and exciting opportunity for local businesses and industry leaders in the tourism industry, in and around the Eastern Cape, to gather and showcase their product.

Over a three-day period, SATSA-accredited tour operators were well received by local tourism establishments and were impressed with what was presented to them. The aim of these workshops was to encourage tourism leaders to share knowledge, build relationships, and ultimately boost tourism in the province.

Day one saw the tour operators divided into two groups, where the first group enjoyed a tranquil canoe experience, while the second group dared themselves to a heart-racing quad biking ride at the Areena Riverside Resort. The resort is situated on the banks of the Kwelera tidal river, and offers unsurpassed views of the river and wildlife. After a riveting afternoon of outdoor activities, the tour operators made their way to the Art Versatile Gallery, a value driven tourism, art and design establishment based in Arcadia, East London.

The first session of the second day of the Speed Marketing workshop saw Councilor Marhata of Buffalo City welcoming the tour operators and the Eastern Cape community at large to what was considered a great start to the workshops. What also materialized from the day was an insightful tour of the Steve Biko Centre, which was established with the effort of creating global interest in the legacy of the late anti-apartheid activist Bantu Stephen Biko.

TThe final day of the session  was held in Port Elizabeth, where Aneshree Rambali from the South African Tourism took to the podium to speak on the perks of getting graded with Tourism Grading Council of South Africa, and the importance of being an SA Specialist.

National Sales and Sponsorship Manager for SATSA, Celeste Visser soon followed discussing a few benefits of becoming a SATSA member, saying “The list of benefits includes credibility & integrity, voice of the industry, fit-for-purpose value-add ones & access to marketing platforms to name a few.”

It’s without a doubt the Eastern Cape Speed Marketing workshop was a resounding success, and concluded with all the tour operators heading to the On The Beach Hotel and Boardwalk Hotel for a site inspection.
