WWidely regarded as one of the best golfers in the world, Gary Player personally designed the Gary Player Country Club and Lost City Golf Course, both of which can be found at Sun City. Even though he has designed over 300 courses, he considers these two among his very best.
The setting is sublime, with lush green lawns set in a natural geological bowl and the Pilanesberg mountains as a picturesque backdrop.
TThe courses last a full day. Whether you’re brilliant or not, we recommend you take the whole weekend—the courses are a challenging par 72 and are designed to test the merit of even the most experienced players.
The Gary Player Country Club is one of the longest courses in the world, covering a total distance of around 7km. The course is strictly “no carts” and must, therefore, be walked. The Lost City Golf Course offers a 72-par, 18-hole desert-style course that incorporates 28 000 square metres of water features, and includes a water hazard at Hole 13, which is home to 38 live Nile crocodiles.
IIf you stay for the weekend, you’ll also be able to enjoy the splendours of Sun City and the Lost City. It’s a wonderland of design and entertainment. Gambling, wildlife, a magnificent water world and wave pool are all part of the experience.
Like watching the professional golfers in action? Make sure you book early to see the annual Nedbank Golf Challenge, a tournament that attracts the biggest names in golf.
