Honeymoon

AA honeymoon in South Africa means one thing: romance with a capital ‘R’. Whether you like the glamour of vibrant urban spaces, the big-sky vastness of the bushveld, threading your way through exquisite mountains and valleys or just hanging out on the beach, South Africa is an ideal honeymoon destination. Not for nothing is it often marketed as ‘the world in one country’.

A honeymoon in South Africa is a good way to start your life together… once you’ve worked out where to go. Youre spoilt for choice: South Africa’s beautiful coastline alone stretches for about 3 750 kilometres from the mouth of the Orange River in Northern Cape to Kosi Bay on the KwaZulu-Natal/Mozambique border. Fans of the beach, water sports or unspoilt marine ecosystems will find everything ranging from busy urban waterfront developments to pristine, tucked-away havens of peace in spectacular surroundings.

If land-based wildlife and natural beauty is more to your liking, there are over 20 national parks to choose from, plenty of them offering the Big 5 and many other fascinating animals. You’ll find several among the formidable and breathtakingly beautiful Drakensberg Mountains in KwaZulu-Natal – as well as in the wild stretches of bushveld in Mpumalanga, Limpopo and North West provinces. Free State offers big skies and homegrown hospitality and Northern Capes mesmerising lunar landscapes offer a new way to interpret romance.

Ideally, a South African honeymoon should be a combination of all the things you love to do when you travel. Create your wish list and take it from there – you can always combine different activities that you enjoy: such as adventure and beaches, urban attractions and cuisine, the great outdoors and the Big 5, culture and creativity. Whatever your dreams are, a honeymoon in South Africa is a superb way to guarantee a wealth of experiences in a single destination.

Choice is your watchword – a honeymoon South African-style is as laid-back or as active as you’d like it to be. You might like to spend your time exploring the country, or just stay in one place and enjoy some well-earned rest after the flurry of arranging your big day.

Whichever you opt for, there are fantastic choices in accommodation available: from 5-star hotels and luxury guesthouses with every mod-con, to quaint bed and breakfasts that offer that home-away-from-home feel.

South Africa remains a value-for-money destination, allowing you to shop around until you find that perfect honeymoon package.
