Western Cape

AAdventure motorcycling is big in the Western Cape where long, winding ribbons of open road hug the sides of dramatic cliffs, offering some of the most breathtaking views on the continent. Grab a motorcycle and see the fairest Cape like never before.

Adventure motorcycling is an incredibly popular visitor activity in the Western Cape. Experiencing the province from the back of a motorcycle provides ample opportunity to absorb the full magnitude of its abundant natural beauty.

There are various Cape Town motorcycle operators that offer bikes for rental for touring purposes, and some that provide guided motorcycle tours throughout South Africa, including all the highlights of the Cape.

There's a motorbike to suit every rider, from powerful superbikes and rugged off-roaders to noisy Harley-Davidsons. You can even hire a motorbike with a vintage sidecar, which will really add something special to the experience.

Harley-Davidson in Cape Town, Africa's first factory authorised-rental outlet and the biggest outside the United States, operates a fleet of 20 twin-cam Harleys and 2 custom Sportster 1200s for rental. The bikes are equipped with passenger seat and backrest, luggage rack and saddlebags for riding comfort.

South African Motorcycle Adventure Tours offers guided and self-guided tour packages of up to 33 days in length. The tours make maximum use of the diverse landscape, featuring everything from winding roads to mountain passes and the formidable Chapman's Peak Drive.

For something completely different, take a tour in a sidecar. Cape Sidecar Adventures provides chauffeured and self-guided tours in its fleet of vintage World War II CJ750 sidecar motorbikes. Qualified tour guides double as drivers and show passengers around the Western Cape on half-day and full-day tours. If you're after a longer ride, opt for the self-drive rental that includes weekend and overnight tour packages.
