TThe Pilgrim’s Rest Retreat at Jock Safari Lodge offers the ultimate ‘spa-fari’ (which is what all the cool kids call a spa combined with a safari…) Visitors can enjoy a combination of game drives, bush walks and relaxing spa treatments as they unwind at this superb lodge situated just inside the Kruger National Park in Mpumalanga province.
Although Pilgrim’s Rest Retreat doesn’t offer traditional spa hydrotherapy facilities, an excellent therapies menu – in which the surrounding elements guide therapists in their selection of treatments – will leave you revived and ready to take on the world.
Why not try a signature treatment known as the Tri-Scented Shea Body Nuggets Massage, which makes use of small blocks of aroma-infused shea butter? These are placed on the body to aid circulation, clear congestion and help with relaxation.
Or if you've just arrived from a long-haul flight and need to realign your mind and body, try the Stress Buster. This particular massage includes a pressure-point massage on the feet as well as a strong back, neck and shoulder massage.
Other massages include an African Head Massage, African Fusion Massage, Avocado and Shea Body Butter Massage and a Deep Tissue Massage.
There are also options of facial treatments and specialised body treatments, including a Full Body Exfoliation Treat.
Manicures and pedicures are also available, as are the usual waxing and tinting items.
After you’ve had your fill of spa treatments, you can enjoy some of the other activities at the lodge, including game drives, guided walks and for something a little different, a frogging safari: during which guests are given headlights, guided after dark and assisted in identifying a number of different species of amphibians.
Jock Safari Lodge certainly offers a retreat with a difference, and there’s no doubt you’ll go home feeling refreshed and revived.
