SSoak up the sun at one of the Western Cape’s most pristine beaches.

Clifton, Cape Town

The four Clifton Beaches in Cape Town are regarded as being among the most beautiful in the world and are home to some of the most sought-after properties in the Southern Hemisphere. The white sands and blue waters have been the subject of countless travel photos over the years.

Boulders Beach, Simon’s Town

At Boulder’s Beach, just outside Cape Town, you can get to know our most famous (and arguably our cutest) birds…the African penguin. You just can’t resist these waddling wonder birds, but that’s a great thing because they love your attention. Beaches here, like Froggy Pond, are popular with locals as they are warmer than the Atlantic beaches and are great swimming beaches. Shallow waters extend quite far out so that swimming and paddling are relatively safe.

Muizenberg Beach, Cape Town

Muizenberg Beach is the ultimate family beach, with its colourful Victorian bathing boxes adding bold hues to the dramatic landscape that has been etched into the minds of beach-going South Africans for decades. It’s also a Blue Flag beach, which means it gets marks for safety, recreational facilities and eco-consciousness.

Camps Bay Beach, Cape Town

Palm-fringed, with platinum blonde sands (and bathers to match), Camps Bay Beach is where the well-to-do and the famous congregate to see, and be seen. This Cape Town beach is all about being gorgeous, from its manicured shoreline overlooked by millionaires’ mansions, to dazzling sunsets and minimalist swimwear.

Lappiesbaai Beach, Western Cape

A long curvy bay (near Stillbaai), which is very popular over the holiday season. Lappiesbaai Beach has been awarded Blue Flag status three years in a row – and no one can argue with that.

BBikini Beach, Gordons Bay

Bikini Beach in Gordons Bay is a great beach hangout for those who are young at heart. With the gracious Hottentots-Holland Mountains in the background, this False Bay beach is popular amongst the students from the nearby Stellenbosch University and visitors who enjoy a laid-back beach lifestyle.

Hawston Beach, Hermanus

Hawston Beach is an immaculate Blue Flag beach destination that combines a range of natural attractions into the mix. Here you’ll find a white stretch of beach, scenic mountains, a wide range of birdlife, and whales and dolphins thrown in for good measure.

Grotto Beach, Hermanus

Grotto Beach in Hermanus is one of two designated Blue Flag beaches in Walker Bay. Grotto’s unspoiled coastline and first-rate amenities make it a popular destination with the “bucket-and-spade brigade”, sun seekers, and those who enjoy long, bare-foot walks along the beach that calm the mind and revive the soul.

Plettenberg Bay, Western Cape

Plettenberg Bay is a top-class destination for nature-lovers, adventurers and beachgoers. Whether you’re after a seaside holiday, a wilderness experience in pristine natural surrounds, or adrenaline-packed adventures, you’ll find all these and more in Plett.

Bloubergstrand Beach, Cape Town

Bloubergstrand is one of the best beaches in the Western Cape when it comes to activities. Situated approximately a 20-minute drive from Cape Town, Bloubergstrand is one of the world’s most popular kitesurfing destinations, also offering surfing, windsurfing and a variety of other outdoor sports.

    Bird Island Nature Reserve
On the Western Cape coast just off shore of Lambert’s Bay is Bird Island. It houses a massive breeding colony of Cape gannets – 1 of only 6 such colonies in the world. Thousands of these birds, as well as Cape cormorants, breed and roost on the island which is connected to the mainland by a breakwater, providing rare public access to these seabird colonies. The reserve features a modern bird hide.
