TThe Future Leaders Forum, hosted by the South Africa National Convention Bureau (SANCB) in conjunction with the IMEX Group, MPI and the MCI Group, is set to inspire during Business Opportunity Networking Day (BONDay) at Meetings Africa on 26 February.

The IMEX-MPI-MCI Future Leaders Forum runs a programme to encourage the brightest students to explore a career in the meetings and events industry by providing insights into what it entails.

The forum also covers industry topics such as sustainability, technology and social media, online and offline networking, and business events trends.

At Meetings Africa 2017, 55 students from across South Africa and SADC universities participated in the forum, which forms part of a global network that has benefited more than 6 500 students since the initiative began in 2003.

To encourage students to showcase their ideas and talent, they take part in a rigorous International University Challenge, submitting proposals and making a pitch based on a fictitious brief. The winner of each country’s challenge is invited to participate in the final at IMEX Frankfurt, where the global winner will win a prestigious scholarship, among other prizes.

Southern African students have always shone and fared exceptionally well on this prominent international platform, boding well for the future of our region’s events industry.

Last year’s Future Leaders Forum winner at Meetings Africa, Kazzandra Grové from the North-West University in Mahikeng, excelled by winning the 2017 International University Challenge at IMEX Frankfurt – demonstrating the exceptional global quality of South Africa’s budding tourism professionals. Kazzandra did us proud by being awarded the MPI Foundation Student Scholarship Award.

The Future Leaders Forum is not open to all Meetings Africa delegates, but you can find out more about our country’s future business events trailblazers in the Meetings Africa Daily newspaper, on the Meetings Africa website, or by following @SA_NCB on Twitter.
