OOn behalf of SA Tourism, I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to Prof John Lamola on his appointment as Group Chief Executive Officer of South African Airways (SAA). His leadership and vision have already played a crucial role in steering SAA towards financial stability,  and we are confident that his continued leadership will further strengthen the aviation and tourism sectors.

The success of our tourism industry is deeply intertwined with a strong and reliable national carrier. As we work collectively to position South Africa as a top global destination, collaboration between stakeholders—including airlines, government, tourism bodies, and industry partners—is essential. SAA's stability and expansion under Prof Lamola’s leadership will play a pivotal role in enhancing connectivity, improving visitor experiences, and driving economic growth for our nation.

We look forward to continuing our partnership with SAA in ensuring that South Africa remains an accessible and attractive destination for travellers worldwide.

Regards

Prof Gregory Davids
